It's budget time again...
You, our customers, are the most important asset of TEEX Water and Wastewater Training. TEEX is pleased to provide you with top-notch training at competitive prices and at convenient locations.
Classes are offered in a location near you in order to minimize your utility's expenses for travel and time away from the job. Everyone is feeling the pain of rising gasoline prices and other goods and services. As the budget cycle for the next fiscal year begins, please provide for an average 10% increase in the cost of Water and Wastewater training. We hope this notice gives you opportunity to prepare for next year.
Increases on a course-by-course basis will be published in future course announcement brochures and on our Web site.
TCEQ to Reject Data from Unaccredited Labs after June 30, 2008
Starting July 1, 2008, analytical data submitted to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) that is related to permitting or remediation must be generated by a lab that TCEQ's Texas Laboratory Accreditation Program has accredited under the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC) standard for matrices, methods, and parameters of analysis, unless:
- The lab is an in-house lab and meets one of these criteria:
- The lab performs work for its owner, for another company with a unit located on the same site, or without compensation for a governmental agency or charitable organization.
- The lab is in another state and is accredited or inspected by that state.
- The lab is accredited under federal law.
- The data are needed for emergency-response activities and no TLAP-accredited lab is available.
- The lab supplies data for which accreditation is not offered.
Starting July 1, 2008, analytical data will be accepted for a permitting or remediation decision only if the data comply with all applicable rules for the regulatory program involved and:
- The lab generating the data is NELAC-accredited by TLAP,
- TCEQ has approved an exception as described above, or
- the data were generated on or before June 30, 2008.
Staff Changes: Introducing Jana Richie
Jana Richie has joined the Water and Wastewater Program as Training Coordinator, and will be handling the course scheduling. She joined TEEX two years ago after a stint at Sam Houston State University. She previously worked with marketing TEEX Water and Wastewater training programs.
Nancy Harbuck retired in late May and she and Richard Harbuck have happily moved back to their farm in Mineola. Richard will continue to work for the Water and Wastewater program as an instructor and advisor.
