Keeping patients calm and under control in a medical environment is important to ensure safety for the staff, patients, and administrators. This course is specifically designed to control patient violence with medically approved techniques. These skills are designed to assist healthcare personnel and first responders in controlling patients for medical treatment or to defend themselves in the case of an unexpected assault. These techniques meet the control needs of staff and the liability concerns of administrators. The course was designed by PPCT Management Systems, Inc., a leader in subject control training systems.

This course meets Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) requirements.

  • Healthcare professionals
  • EMS/fire personnel

  • Healthcare support staff


  • Physical participation is required, participant must be in good physical condition and able to complete the following:
    • Handcuffing techniques
    • Defensive counter strikes
    • Joint locks
    • Grounding techniques


  • Participants should wear comfortable clothing for physical activity
