Course Description
MGT343 - Disaster Management for Water and Wastewater Utilities - 16.00 Hours
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for this course. However, participants are encouraged to take the online courses IS 100, IS 700.A, and IS 800 at http://training.fema.gov/IS/NIMS.asp before attending this course.
Description
You can earn certification through the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service’s course – Disaster Management for Water and Wastewater Utilities (MGT343). This course is designed to provide training to water and wastewater professionals on issues concerning preparing for, responding to, and recovering from incidents affecting water and/or wastewater facilities. The course introduces the various natural and man-made (accidental or intentional) hazards to which water and wastewater systems may be vulnerable and the potential effects the hazards may induce. Planning for and managing incidents are discussed, as well as disaster mitigation, response and recovery specific to drinking water and wastewater systems. Participants are guided through portions of the Environmental Protection Agencies Response Protocol Toolbox to identify steps in the response and recovery processes.
