In order to obtain certification through the Texas Department of State Health Services, you will be required to prove that you are at least 18 years of age and that you have a high school diploma or GED.
This course is a fast paced day class. Based on U.S. DOT approved curriculum, this course meets or exceeds minimum hours and content established by Department of State Health Services. Students successfully completing didactic and clinical components of this program will be eligible to receive a course completion certificate and sit for the National Registry written exam. The hospital and ambulance rotations are completed after the classroom portion of the class. The student will have up to three months after the last day of class to complete all class, clinical, and hospital requirements.
This listing is for the faster paced course. Our fast track EMT Basic format meets for a total of 232 hours. The class meets eight hours a day five days a week (Monday - Friday) or three days a week (Monday / Wednesday / Friday) from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and consists of 232 total hours. The total hours are divided into 120 didactic / lecture, 64 hospital clinical, and 48 ambulance internship.
You will be required to provide the student textbook and associated student workbook. This class will be utilizing the Jones & Bartlett / AAOS Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured – 9th edition. You will be provided with clinical uniform shirt for clinical / internship rotations at a later date.
