TEEX is committed to promoting safe work environments by teaching workers the skills and knowledge needed to maintain voluntary compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. TEEX is dedicated to providing the best occupational, construction, youth, maritime and industrial safety training across the United States. TEEX has a global reputation for offering professional training, assembling high-quality instructional materials, and incorporating the latest training aids to enhance the learning process.
Over the past three years TEEX OSHA Training Institute Southwest Education Center (OTISEC) has trained 14,228 students from 50 states and 10 foreign countries. Funding for training and course development programs is regularly awarded to TEEX through state and federal grant programs. TEEX recently became the first OSHA Education Center to become a GSA Schedule partner. This contract enables Federal Government Agencies to purchase approved training courses at pre-negotiated prices.
The OSHA Southwest Education Center's core curriculum is focused on more than 17 construction and general industry OSHA Courses - conducted on an open enrollment and contract basis throughout the year. Additionally, professional and regulatory classes include Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) for Instructor Development, Behavior Based Safety, Job Hazard Analysis Methods, Safety and Health Management, Accident Investigation, Applied Respiratory Protection, Blood-Borne Pathogens, and Ergonomic Assessment Skills.
OSHA Education Center
The OSHA Southwest Education Center serves Region VI, which covers Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas, TEEX has an ongoing commitment to innovative programs that help workers and companies in the region achieve personal and professional safety goals. TEEX offers professional and regulatory training at convenient locations, using well-qualified instructors, high-quality instructional materials, and the latest training aids to enhance the learning process. Most courses are also offered for delivery at customer sites. Supplemental training and resource materials (books, manuals, CDs) for both OSHA and professional and regulatory topics are made available through online bookstore offerings at the TEEX E-Store.
Faculty
The TEEX OSHA Training Institute Southwest Education Center faculty consists of professional instructors with business and industry experience covering virtually every safety-related occupation in our country. These professional trainers average 20 years in job site, safety-related occupations and industry-specific hazard recognition, evaluation and control methods.
OSHA Training Institute Southwest Education Center Facility
A 32,000-square-foot training facility in Mesquite, Texas, includes: Eight dedicated classrooms, a Web conference and meeting center equipped with the latest in remote site audio/visual equipment and a 12-place interactive personal computer lab with high-speed Internet access. The 33-acre campus is used regularly to accommodate classes and training exercises that require truck-side equipment accessibility or outdoor settings.
CareerSafe
Reducing injuries and fatalities among young, entry-level workers is the goal of CareerSafe, an interactive, online safety training program. Part of a national youth safety initiative, the course is promoted in alliance with OSHA and the national office of SkillsUSA, an organization with more than 240,000 high school and college student members. TEEX offers an OSHA train-the-trainer course to teachers, which enables them to expand upon the Web-based course to include classroom training. The CareerSafe program enables students entering the workforce to obtain their 10-hour OSHA wallet card at minimal expense.
TEEX Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO)
TEEX introduced this certification program in 2002 to give safety and health officers a career path and goal for their OSHA training. The TEEX Certified Safety and Health Official designation requires a minimum of 225 hours of occupational safety and health classroom training. It is recognized by the safety and health industry as an equivalent to the certification of OSHA Compliance Safety and Health Officers. Participation in this program benefits all parties involved through an advanced level of safety education; pride of accomplishment; and immeasurable years of residual, pass-along knowledge.
Customized Safety Training
Beyond offering occupational health and safety and environmental health and safety training courses, TEEX provides safety training in a variety of vocational and industrial fields, including the United States Army, firefighting, public safety, transportation, electric power, water/wastewater, maritime and others. TEEX courses can be customized to the needs of any organization.
