Each day, personnel working on the roadways make decisions that affect not only their lives, but also those of the traveling public. Some of these personnel have little or no training in work zone traffic control.

To reduce the severity of work zone safety problems, and to satisfy the requirements of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD), we offer a variety of safety training courses. This program allows employees of TxDOT, cities and counties the opportunity to have their personnel trained according to TMUTCD and to do their part in decreasing crashes and fatalities on Texas highways.

Courses offered in this program include:

• Installation and Maintenance of Signs (HWS112)
• Safe Practices for Traffic Incident Responders (HWS020)
• Train-the-Trainer Flaggers (HWS114)

• Work Zone Traffic Control Refresher (HWS004)
