The TEEX Explosives Training program consists of two areas; Ordnance Removal & Remediation (OR&R) and Explosive Training for Law Enforcement (ETLE). The OR&R Certificate offers participants courses designed to prepare graduates for entry into the unexploded ordnance (UXO) industry. TEEX developed the UXO Technician Level-I course in 1999 and remains the only civilian school originally certified by the Department of Defense Safety Board. ETLE addresses the use of explosives for tactical entry operations as well as advanced knowledge in the safe identification of and response to military ordnance incidents.
TEEX SPOTLIGHT: New Advanced Ordnance Recognition for Law Enforcement Refresher Course
The Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) now offers the Advanced Ordnance Recognition for Law Enforcement Refresher course. Access to this specialized refresher training is restricted to those public safety bomb technicians and explosives specialists who have successfully completed the 80 hour TEEX Advanced Ordnance Recognition for Law Enforcement (AORLE) course.
This intense three-day training session uses a combination of traditional instruction and customized hands-on activities to refresh participants knowledge specific to the proper identification of military munitions and response best practices surrounding reported ordnance incidents. Many public safety bomb squads and their federal counterparts respond to reports of military ordnance on a regular basis. Understanding the need to sustain important knowledge, skills, and abilities gained from previous training related to these unique incidents, TEEX developed the AORLE Refresher to fill the void for recurrent training related to these specialized response operations. Access to AORLE Refresher training designed to help maintain and refine team member recognition skills is critical to safely resolving these incidents. To ensure team member retention of previously received training, the AORLE Refresher course reviews past course topics using a combination of practical ordnance identification and testing. Once successfully completed, participants are then given a series of challenging scenarios designed to reinforce the implementation of safe and effective response actions.
Through access to approximately 5,000 military munitions training aids and variety of available training facilities located on the Texas A&M University Riverside Campus, TEEX, through the delivery of the AORLE Refresher, continues to provide public safety bomb squad technicians and explosives specialists with an unrivaled training experience.
