Description

The frequency of pre-hospital emergency response and delivery of health care following detonation of an explosive agent is becoming increasingly prevalent. This course is designed to familiarize medical responders with treatment considerations and evaluation techniques which may assist in that response.

Topics

  • Explain the physics of blast, including two blast phases
  • Identify four (4) factors that play a role in determining the extent of injuries sustained from over pressurization of an explosive blast
  • Identify four (4) mechanisms of blast injury and body systems associated with them
  • Recognize signs and symptoms associated with blast injuries
  • Describe how to evaluate and treat blast force injuries

    Any emergency responder from all disciplines/services
