The Texas Fire Officer Program (TFOP) is a comprehensive fire officer training and leadership program utilizing the Fire Officer I, Fire Officer II, Fire Officer III, and Fire Officer IV courses. All courses meet NFPA 1021 training requirements. The TFOP program provides training and certification to meet the challenges faced by both the Company and Command Officer.
Students successfully completing the Fire Officer I, II, III & IV courses are eligible for Pro Board (NPQS) NFPA 1021 testing and certification. All classes are eligible for American Council on Education (ACE) credit. The Texas Fire Officer Training Program is conducted within Texas and is supported with grant funds. EMS Leadership Academy
The EMS Leadership Academy is based upon a concept begun in the early 90’s to provide leadership and management training for EMS Leaders in Texas (the TEEX EMS Leadership Academy began in 2004). From the beginning the program philosophy has been to provide continuing education designed for professional development using an integrated EMS System approach. Training is designed to be people focused, performance measured and outcome driven, using a “can do” positive approach and attitude. Our long term vision is to develop standardized leadership credentials; reciprocity for managers making career moves; to develop appropriate, quality continuing education for EMS leaders; and promote publications and materials designed to enhance and improve management and leadership skills. The EMS Leadership Academy consists of the following three courses (each 40 hours in length):
Basic Supervisory Practices—”Doing Things Right” ‘TASKS’
EMS System Management—”Doing the Right Things” ‘TACTICAL’
Executive Development—”Setting Core Values and Beliefs” ‘STRATEGIC’
